Cividale del Friuli

The Shrine of Our Lady of Castelmonte (Madone mont in Friuli) is located in the municipality of Prepotto (UD). It rises 618 but close to the Julian Alps, 7 km from Cividale. Its origins lie in early Christianity. to its dominant position between the valleys of Natisone and Judrio, was the site of a Roman garrison to defend the city of Iulii Forum (now Cividale).
